Hey guys!!! Just some important info for saving money while your at conference:

-Bring your own refillable water bottle
-Bring your own snacks and breakfast food

SEEK Packing List

• Casual attire (jeans, t-shirts, tennis shoes, etc.)
• *Blue* HUSKER CATHOLIC T-Shirt (If you have one!...if you don't have one we'll provide one for you!)
• Swimsuit (optional) – please keep modesty in mind
• Sunday Mass attire
• Warm weather clothing (Please check the weather before packing) 
• Bible
• Camera
• Toiletries
• Credit card or debit card for hotel check-in. Please note that if you choose to use a debit card, the money will be deducted from your bank account and then refunded upon check out. If you will be using someone else’s credit/debit card, you must complete a waiver form to bring with you to hotel check-in. Email seek@focus.org to obtain that form.
• Money for meals (cash for cash stands and nearby restaurant), vendor booths (books, t-shirts, gifts, and more!), gratuities for housekeeping and porter services, and parking.

Below is the email that was sent out on Wednesday, December 12 to all students traveling to SEEK2013 with UNL!

Good morning everyone and happy finals week! Below you will find everything you need to know about traveling to SEEK in just 19 days!

January 1, 2013 - Depart from Lincoln

• Arrive at UNL Newman Center at 8:30 am
• Please do your best to carpool with other students on this day.
• If you have a UNL student parking pass, please park in one of those spots. If you do not have one, please try to carpool with someone who does have a parking pass. We will have a very limited number of parking spots available if you are unable to find a ride.
• This is a holy day of obligation! We will have mass before we board the buses. Please note that this will be your only opportunity for mass this day.
• Please note: it is a federal offense to drink alcohol on the bus. Our drivers will not hesitate to stop the bus and kick you off right where and when it is discovered. 

January 2, 2013 - Arrive and SEEK STARTS! WOOOO!

January 6, 2013 - Depart from Orlando

January 7, 2013 - Arrive in Lincoln around 5:00pm

If you need an excused absence letter, those are located at the front desk of the UNL Newman Center.

If you have not paid, please drop your check made out to FOCUS off at the front desk of the Newman Center before you leave for break. Again, the cost is $150 for SEC, Weselyan, & UNL students and $250 for everyone else traveling with us!

Event: FOCUS Greek Presents Dr. Pia - Theology of the Body

Who: Dr. Pia de Solenni. She is an ethicist and moral theologian who speaks and writes on a variety of cultural and moral issues. Her expertise covers issues relating to women's health, life issues, and bioethics. Her work has appeared in various publications including The Washington Post, The New York Times, and the Associated Press. She is a frequent commentator on MSNBC, FOX, CNN, and other nationally televised programs.

What: an exciting talk on Theology of the Body! Theology of the Body is Blessed John Paul II's vision of the human person - body, soul, and spirit. His message of hope counteracts the societal trends that urge us to view the body as an object of pleasure or machine for manipulation. JPII portrays a beautiful vision of sexuality and encourages a reverence for this gift. He challenges us to live it in a way worthy of our dignity as human persons.

If you are a student who is attending SEEK and DO NOT attend UNL and are planning on traveling with us, please contact michelle.lippoli@focus.org so we can make sure you are accounted for!

Similarly, if you are a UNL student and you know of someone who does not attend UNL and is planning on traveling with us to SEEK, have them contact Michelle!

November Upper Room

Who: FOCUS Student Leaders

What: Our monthly required meeting. We will start with a holy hour and will follow with formation, fellowship, and food. Jim will be talking about his trip to Rome for the Synod on the New Evangelization. We will be discussing our roles as the pioneers of the new evangelization and how to reach souls on this campus!

Where: Newman (this is a change!)

When: Friday, November 16th, 7:00pm

Thursday, November 8 @ 7pm in the FOCUS Building!

Vicki Thorn will be back this Thursday! She will come to speak to us about how technology is destroying our ability to relate to ourselves and others and human beings. Social Media has become so central to our society and she will help us discover how dependent we have become through her eye opening insights and scientific research!

This event is open to all UNL Students! Bring your friends.
